Personal Comments On WC20 R1 Entries and Predictions

Disclaimer: My comments on the videos are solely my opinions alone. Everyone is entitled to give their own comments or critics. The feedback is by my unprofessional self. I apologize in advance.

All the entries on this year's WC are dope. Just what you expect for a world class tournament.

Let's start

JEB:

Dawn Wanderer

Probably my favorite if not everyone's for the whole Round 1. Nothing much to say since the CV is pretty solid by itself. My favorite combos in the CV are by Laku (especially the backaround tap back transfer) and fukrou (because of the insane wipers). The BGM suits everyone's style. What actually caught my attention was Kyosuke's spinning. It's interesting to see that kind of spinning style. One of the team that will advance to Round 2.

Ultimate Rookies

JEB second team. They are pretty new to me since I never seen them before but they have few years of experience in spinning. Haro reminds me of Ponkotu and Ocha with the full body spinning. Sututu have the balls of steel for filming handcam, otherwise the combo is sick. Also, Im in love with tetora's combo. Would love to see this team go further in the tournament!

PSH

Team O1dEi9hT

Love the BGM choice and their spinning angles. Everything looks clear. My favorite here is Genius (his angle reminds me of Snow a little bit) and Hector (smooth spinning and I haven't seen that smoothness for a while). I'm unsure whether they will advance to the next round but their spinning is pretty solid. Technical-wise, they have what it takes to go to the next round. 

Team Nin Jion

I didn't expect the team's CV would be this good. The BGM and the spinning synchronize very well as well as the sick editing. YaYa, Pluviose and Hui blew my mind. YaYa is like oZone/Laku 2.0. Pluviose counters are sick. Hui's spinning is straight away unique for me. This team is most likely to advance to the next round compared to O8.

PHPS

W

Short and simple R1 entry. Needless to say that this team is one of the favored teams to advance to the next round. Wla, ch and Xound's linkage are beast. I kind of wanted to see who's going to take what theme in the next round.

Team FAPS

Name's kinda funny and inappropriate. But the full name of the team is Filipino Association of Pen Spinning, hence the name FAPS for short. Love the edits. Jv2 made a ballsy move for using RSVP for a big tournament. Mad respect :P Love the transition between Kres and Kurinto. Kurinto's wiper is good and I sort of looking forward to PHPS second team in the next round.

FPSB

X

I don't have much to say. Everyone's good in the video. Tchus and Akr0nix combos caught my attention. Love to see Ivabra participate in the tournament and making a comeback after years. Looking forward to his spinning in the next round! Good luck X!

Y

FPSB second team. They do have the potential to advance to R2. Love how Frost's spinning suits the relaxing music. And yes, Patchwork did an excellent combo especially the ending. Overall I'm impressed with everyone inside this video. Love the edits and transition.

IPSB

Archix

Team led by R87. Love the spinning but the edits kinda disturbing a little bit especially the quotes. Had to pause for a while to read those quotes or else I could not choose either to read the quotes or see the spinning itself. Groz56 and R87 combos are clean and I would love to see this team advance. Good luck!

Plus62

Plus62 reminds me of this Liga +62 football parody song. Anyway, yufart's wipers are good, love Shisones' links and zer0ne's spinning. Sukma's spinning reminds me of R87 of his early days. Good job everyone! Omae wa mou shindeiru xD

VNPSC + THPSC

The Southeast Wind

This is a pure VNPSC team. Probably the most unique team for this round in my opinion. Akai's sick linkage, Drakes' Dr. Grip combo (ballsy move and I like it) and Pen10 short 2H combo is interesting. Good luck!

Ricefield

VNPSC + THPSC team. Consisted of two communities which is Vietnam and Thailand. It's a unique CV in my opinion. Love the continuous transition edits and the ricefield cinematic intro which makes the CV unique. I can't brain OhYeah!'s combo, too difficult for my brain. Huwng's combo is smooth and pleasing to watch. 

PPP

Epic edit! Love Moseiq, Banan and Ketain's combos. Somehow I could not recall when was the last time I heard PPP. This team have the potential to advance. Good luck PPP! All the best :)

UPSB

I'm satisfied with the video. Padrace's smooth spinning, Dio's wipers and Zefia's difficult links (maybe it's just difficult for me). Some of the combos are well constructed and very fluid. Good to see Afro's back. 

GPC

These people are pretty new to me (or maybe I just came back after 5 years of slumber haha). Ever since the announced their lineup, I was kind of interested on Baumgru's combo for R1 and yes, it does not disappoint me. Good job. Other than that, I love Susaki's bally move using MX but I couldn't see much of his spinning. And yes, I love it how Hiato construct his directional change combo. 

MYPSC

Malaysia rep. Everyone did a good job especially EffecT's aerials/links, Xelphire's counters and Domin1c* fingercross. Good luck to us! Huge thanks to EffecT for his editing and the poster.
