Aiman 4th Post-Premiere Comments and Thoughts

What's up readers!

I have nothing much to say actually. I will be writing about my final project in 2020 which is Aiman 4th. I have been planning about the CV since October but I have no inspirations on what theme should I do and what/who I want to have inside the CV. The planning got delayed somewhere in the end of October and early December due to workload.

Here is the CV:

Download here (Google Drive)

I made the CV invite and open purpose so that I can improve the CV quality in a way and I am quite surprised with the results. Although I didn't received much submissions, at least the number of clips is enough for me to complete the video with the selected music since it fits with the theme.

Theme: Galaxy and Space

Music used: Aoi - Pollux

Why Pollux? To make it short, it is a star and it fits the theme I used. You can read more about Pollux here if you are interested in astronomy. The music have fast and slow pace in some part which I is suitable for various kind of spinning style can be fitted into the CV which is my main goal since I don't really prefer a constantly fast and slow paced music in a CV (But hey, everyone's opinions are different).

Software used:
  • Sony Vegas 17.0
  • Adobe After Effects
  • Adobe Photoshop

For the background in the CV, 50% of the background I made it myself (learned how to Photoshop galaxy) and the rest I grab from Google (free license bro, no copyright strike) and I animated the pictures using Adobe After Effects. I'm still new to the software so you guys might notice some weird style of editing here and there in the video. Running Ae on my 4GB RAM laptop made my laptop screamed (lol). I should consider upgrading it in the future.

How the spinners (invited guests) decided?

Well, nothing special in particular. I watched some of their available videos and tried to incorporate with the music. This took me quite a while to figure out how I can fit their style's with the music and decided to invite them without any second thoughts. I will add my comments on each person.

Invited:

  • Padrace
    • He sent me 3 clips and to be honest I don't know which clip to choose since all of them are very well executed even though he mentioned about trying some new links. The pace of the combo is very stable with less filler links and the combo is executed smoothly.
  • Jiv
    • One of the earliest people to submit his video to me. He surprised me a lot with the finisher and the slight pause before the directional change which adds more aesthetical and technical value of the part of the video.

  • Haro
    • The hardest one to be placed inside the video since it is a stand up video. Tried every single possible combinations of the video just to fit him inside the video and only managed to put him as the last person in the video because the beat at the ending of the video fits him very well. Something new inside my CV and I had fun watching him spinning since stand up is fairly new kind of category in pen spinning.

  • zer0ne
    • I'm glad this lad responds to my calling haha. The combo density is fairly good to me. and just what I expected from him. Looking forward on your future improvements and hope to see you joining tournaments.

  • Mordecai
    • One of the guy I have trouble finding a background just to fit his yellow Hello Kitty bed sheet. I love the combo opening execution and the flow of the combo until the end. It synchronize very well with the beat the time.

  • KURINTO
    • Decided to invite him since he is trying something new to his spinning and I thought that I might as well invite him and try to put him in my CV. But I am not sure whether the clip he sent to me is a part of his new stuff or just his usual stuff. But one thing I noticed that he spin less wipers lately. I'm glad that I able to put him inside the CV on the right part of the music.

  • Jv2
    • One of my favorite SC spinners and hence I invited him. Sick execution and always been a fan of his MX spinning. Was expecting you to use MX bro aaaaaaa. Length of the clip is just nice.

  • nomad
    • I'm extremely mindblown by his combo execution and flow. It's very good and packed with a lot of links for a 14-15 second combo. Not sure whether the original file have FPS error or it is the rendering process. Tried to fix the error for few times but I was unable to come up with a solution for the problem. Inviting him wasn't a mistake and I am looking forward on his improvements in PS since he still have a lot of room to grow.

The rest of  the people in the video joined through open selection:
  • ch
    • Sick and smooth execution. No words can describe your combo when I watch it. Short but compact with a lot of stuff. I'm honored to have you in my CV!
  • Beta
    • I love the atmosphere of the video. Not sure if it is the original lighting or you put a filter before you submit it to me. Spinning wise, I would say it is very refined and smooth.
  • PHRAIN
    • Your part really suits the slow pace part of the music. You have improved a lot in terms of spinning and I like your angle. Cool links by the way! Hope to see more stuff from you soon :)
  • EffecT
    • He's back again with is i.suk Emboss. I love and dig the aerial part of the combo and manged to sync it perfectly with the beat. Not sure why your video looks very stretchy and but I guess it is probably because I changed the resolution to 16:9 ratio since the raw file looks okay to me.
  • Sweg
    • Thanks for submitting. I love the double ring around and the flow of the combo. I wonder if you applied any butter on your hand before spinning. Link wise it is very solid and well constructed.
  • Domin1c*
    • I wished you could focus your hand to the center but hey, new setup from you! Though I still like your old angle. You should do something about your new angle as soon as possible haha. Great spinning and the new setup.

    • To be honest I love the counters in the combo but it wasn't executed smoothly. I totally understand your spinning concept in the clip but I cannot find a way on how to place you in the CV. Another note; try to focus your camera at one point before recording. The auto focus kills the quality.
  • Pearl
    • I really love the pace of your combo and the links you put inside it. I definitely can put you in if you sent a combo that follows the requirements I gave especially the cutoff time since it is a part of CV making and editing. You would not want your combo to be cut into two parts and only one part is used in the CV right?
  • Tuanz
    • I love the combo and the speed. But the camera quality gives it the minus point since it looks too grainy and it could affect the whole presentation of your part in the CV.

Overall, I enjoyed editing the CV as I learned new stuff about graphics. Stay tuned for more projects by me in the future! Thanks for joining and reading my comments and thoughts.
